Selective Functional Movement Assessment
The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a diagnostic system used to assess 7 fundamental movement patterns in those with known musculoskeletal (your body, including muscles and skeleton) pain. Not only does the SFMA find the source of pain of each client, but it allows me to systematically find the cause of the symptoms by breaking down the dysfunctional patterns and diagnosing the root causes.
This assessment allows me to provide you proper interventions regarding your dysfunctional movements, by discovering the localized symptoms and treating the source of the problem. This assessment can be used as an initial, progressive, and final evaluation tool.
What is the difference between FMS and SFMA?
- FMS is a screening test for healthy, active people and for healthy, inactive people who want to increase their physical activity. These individuals do not show symptoms of pain or discomfort.
- SFMA is an assessment of the musculoskeletal when pain is present.
